Francisco José García Peñalvo es Catedrático de Universidad del Departamento de Informática y Automática en la Universidad de Salamanca (USAL), con 3 sexenios de investigación, 1 sexenio de transferencia y 4 quinquenios docentes reconocidos. Recibió el premio Gloria Begué a la excelencia docente en 2019. Además, es Profesor Distinguido de la Escuela de Humanidades y Educación del Tecnológico de Monterrey, México e Investigador de Impacto Internacional de la Universidad Nacional San Agustín, Arequipa, Perú. Desde 2006 es el director del Grupo de Investigación Reconocido por la USAL GRIAL (GRupo de investigación en InterAcción y eLearning), grupo que es Unidad de Investigación Consolidada de la Junta de Castilla y León (UIC 81).
