This special issue of the Journal of Interactive Media in Education (JIME) invites the academic community to reflect on the challenges and opportunities of integrating education and open science into digital ecosystems. It hopes to foster a multidisciplinary debate on how interactive media, artificial intelligence and open access digital infrastructures can enhance teaching and learning in higher education and lifelong learning environments. It also seeks to explore new strategies to ensure quality, accessibility and inclusiveness in the production and reuse of OER, open education and open science, as well as their impact on building more collaborative and global learning communities.
Researchers, educators, and policymakers are invited to submit original research articles, theoretical reviews, and case studies on the following topics (suggested themes include but are not limited to):
- Good practices in capacity building and infrastructure development in open environments.
- Innovative models for the creation, reuse and adaptation of OER.
- Policies and strategies for open education and open science in digital environments.
- Artificial intelligence, interactive media and emerging technologies applied to open knowledge.
- Sustainability and social impact of open science and education.
- International cooperation and governance in digital education and open science.
- Intersections between open education, inclusion and equity in learning.
